A message to all members of Traveling within the World

Elder's Meditation of the Day:

"Everybody should pray together, cheer along, root along. That brings the circle together. Everything is together."

--Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA

Life on the Earth can sometimes be very complicated. Sometimes we think we are alone in our problems. Sometime we even withdraw. Then the problems become even more difficult. We need to watch out for one another, to care for one another, to pray together, to encourage one another; and we need to support one another. Behaving in this manner will bring the circle together.

Great Spirit, today, let me support my brothers and sisters.

Spell A Day:

Break Fast from Technology

April 6
Tuesday
Passover ends

Color of the day: Red
Incense of the day: Ginger

Far too often, we forget the role that technology plays in our lives. Personally, I strongly suggest taking a break (a “fast”) from technology for a number of days. (This is described in my book Shadow Magic Compendium.) For the space provided here, I suggest this blessing after any fast from technology, or at any time you feel overwhelmed to express gratitude to the neo-gods of technology. Get a bag of fifty tealight candles and a little bottle of peppermint or spearmint essential oil (non-synthetic). At precisely 8 pm, anoint one of the tealights with the oil and fire up the wick. Place this next to the first item of electronic technology you see in the house—perhaps on top of the television, on the computer tower, next to a light fixture, on the car, or on the washing machine. When placing the candle, say something like:
I honor you, gods of technology and electricity. Please always serve me positively, as I shall do the same for you.
Continue this process with every piece of technological equipment you see in the house. Check the candles constantly to make sure the flames are safe, secure, and contained.

Buddhist Quote of the Day:

We plant merit with our minds, and we commit crimes with our minds. With our minds, we imprint images. This one mind is like an artist. It can draw anything, and what it draws is realized. If you surrender your impressions, ideas, thoughts, and so on at the moment they arise without imprinting them on your mind, your minds will not be tainted, just as the lotus flower is not tainted by the muddy water whence it grows.

Thor of the Day:

Runecast for 4/6/10

Today’s Runecast is Bjork – Eh – Mannar. Here is a trick. The process of Eh is not the same as the process within Perdra. Perdra takes raw materials and makes something. Eh is the process of action, such as a journey. It makes nothing, but passes from beginning to middle to end. Perdra is like manufacturing something, whereas Eh is action. Perdra gets things made; Eh gets things done.

Bjork is a Rune of women, among other things. It is also a Rune of young children, natural expansion, growth and healing. Mannar is the Rune of men. It can also be a Rune of identity: the who and the what of a person. It describes what he does – his role – as opposed to who he really is.

Obviously, we have a process joining a man and a woman. It can also be expansion leading to a larger identity. A third meaning is a woman establishing her identity in the minds of the people. This can be a day for prominent females to expand their identity by revealing a new role for themselves.

Could someone be getting engaged today? Or revealing a marriage? The day will tell all!

On another note: perhaps Elin will establish her identity as distinct from that of “Tiger”. Will Sandra announce a change in her own identity as it relates to Jesse?

Apr The Measure of the Isa Rune:

The measure of the Isa rune is a tricky thing. Isa can be a crisis. Like the old saying about the Chinese character for “crisis,” the Isa Rune can be danger or opportunity. Isa can stop things instantly. It can be a hindrance or it can create a temporary passage. Think of ice which blocks the river to water traffic and at the same time makes it passable on foot. There you find an excellent analogy to the extremes in which this Rune can manifest.

The measure of Ice is not its thickness nor its adamance, but its temperature. The colder it is, the stronger it becomes. As it gets warmer, it gets weaker and more treacherous. This is not to say that Isa is completely safe when coldest. Even the coldest ice can shatter from impact.
